Village Portraits from My Heritage

This series depicts portraits from rural India using a minimalist line art aesthetic. Each portrait is de-contextualised, enabling viewers to attach their own meanings and stories to the lives behind the faces. The Village Portraits from My Heritage series captures the culture of a rich lineage of villagers, including farmers. Originally created as photogram prints, each hand drawn design has been manually processed in the photography darkroom, resulting in a bold, sophisticated and intricate finish.
