Champions of Change: Spoken Word Poetry Showcase & Anthology Launch

The third annual Spoken Word Poetry Showcase at Bangkok Patana School was a powerful celebration of youth voices, creativity and courage. This year’s theme – “Champions of Change: Inspiring Resilience and Hope” – called on students to use poetry as a response to global challenges and they rose to the occasion with heart and conviction.

As part of the Spoken Word Poetry ECA, students from Years 7–9 explored poetic forms and activist writing, researched global changemakers, mentored one another, and crafted moving pieces that speak to resilience, character and social impact. Their poems reflected a deep engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the world around them.

Highlights from the showcase included:

  • The launch of a published student anthology, now archived at the National Library of Thailand
  • Live spoken word performances by our young poets on stage
  • Individual poetry collections inspired by changemakers and the SDGs

As their programme facilitator, I was immensely proud to witness their growth as writers and performers. Their words carried empathy, strength and urgency. Their voices reminded us that change begins with courage – and that poetry can be a powerful tool for action.

Held at the Theatre, Bangkok Patana School | 26 June 2025
