I was honoured to perform my spoken word piece “Our Art is the Start” at the Design Up and Rising showcase during Bangkok Design Week Festival, backed by the incredible Kinetic Poetic live band.
Originally written for the ‘Patana Canvases’ exhibition launch (as part of the Teachers as Practitioners event), this poem asks: “What’s the point of your art?” And it answers with defiance and hope. Art is the beginning of something bold, necessary and urgent. It’s a call to action – for revolution, connection and transformation. For the courage to create and the belief that imagination can change the world.
This piece aligned beautifully with the festival’s theme Up+Rising, celebrating how creativity helps us push beyond limitations and shape new futures.
