It was incredibly moving to see my curated exhibition, Women, Art & the Spirit of Giving, presented at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre as part of The Art of Giving, an International Women’s Day event organised by the Australian Alumni Association (Thailand) in support of the global #GiveToGain campaign.
I created this exhibition to bring together nine women from the Teachers as Practitioners (TAPs) programme at Bangkok Patana School—educators, business staff and leaders whose creative practices embody what it means to give: to ourselves through creative growth, to one another through collaboration, and to the wider community through art with purpose.
Each artwork reflected not only personal expression, but also a commitment to advocacy, social awareness and celebrating women’s voices and lived experiences. Together, the exhibition demonstrated how creativity can foster reciprocity, connection and meaningful impact both within and beyond education.
I am deeply grateful to the exhibiting artists – Cindy Adair, Marie-Claire Redman, Tidarat Tonasut, Duangporn Turongratanachai, Areeluck Songsirikul, Pimpakarn Abhinoraseth, Kate McClenaghan and Sathitha Kitchareonthumrong – for sharing their work so generously.
This exhibition also celebrated the culture of creativity at Bangkok Patana School, where artistic practice, professional learning and collaboration are genuinely valued. When educators continue creating alongside teaching, we enrich not only our own wellbeing and professional identities, but also the learning experiences of our students and colleagues.
