Over several months, I had the privilege of collaborating with the Australian Alumni Association (Thailand) and Australian Women Alumni Relations for Equity (AWARE) to help bring The Art of Giving to life—our International Women’s Day 2026 celebration at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
Inspired by the global #GiveToGain campaign, the event celebrated the transformative power of generosity through creativity, education, entrepreneurship and community leadership. Bringing together Australian alumni, artists, educators, social enterprises and women-led businesses, the programme highlighted how giving knowledge, opportunity and support can create lasting social impact.
A Celebration of Creativity and Community
Designed as a public event, The Art of Giving featured a diverse programme of panel discussions, interactive workshops, exhibitions and creative showcases, encouraging participants to explore the role of art and storytelling in advancing equity, inclusion and positive change.
The event reflected a shared commitment to celebrating women whose work creates meaningful impact across education, the arts, business and the wider community.
My Contributions
I was honoured to contribute in several capacities throughout the event:
- Premiering my original spoken-word performance, The Art of Giving: Give to Gain, inspired by the International Women’s Day campaign theme.
- Facilitating the workshop Envisioning Positive Change: Women’s Voices Through Creative Journalling and Collage, alongside Salita Soongsawang.
- Moderating the panel discussion Giving Voice: Art, Storytelling & Advocacy, exploring representation, inclusion and the power of creative practice.
- Curating the TAPs exhibition, Patana Canvases: Women, Art & the Spirit of Giving, showcasing the creative practices of women educators, leaders and professional staff from Bangkok Patana School.
Giving to Gain
The Art of Giving demonstrated that creativity is more than personal expression—it is a powerful vehicle for connection, advocacy and community. Whether through poetry, visual art, conversation or collaboration, the event celebrated the idea that by giving our knowledge, time, creativity and support to others, we create opportunities for everyone to grow.
