Write in the Gallery: Creative Writing Inspired by Exhibitions

You’ll learn to write creatively, inspired by visual art from the exhibition we visit. You will explore ekphrastic techniques, including the use of vivid sensory language, creating stories within and beyond the frame, adopting different perspectives, and more. First, you’ll spend time in the gallery observing the artworks and developing drafts of your writing or poems. Then, during the final part of the workshop, you’ll further develop and share your drafts. You’ll leave with new knowledge of poetic forms and language techniques, your own drafts (or completed poems), and fresh ways of engaging with visual art and the museum space as a whole.
