The Sketchbook Project: If You Lived Here
Exhibition
Group exhibition at Brooklyn Art Library, New York, 2011

Overview
About the exhibition
The Sketchbook Project is a constantly evolving library of artists’ sketchbooks from across the globe. The sketchbook is given a barcode with a unique number – this allows the Art House Co-op to keep track of the book and record every time it’s viewed at the Brooklyn Art Library and on tour. The sketchbook is catalogued on the Sketchbook Project website where it can be viewed globally.
Exhibited in: Brooklyn Art Library, Brooklyn (NY); SPACE Gallery, Portland (ME); Austin Museum of Art, Austin (TX); The Granite Room, Atlanta (GA); Hillyer Art Space, Washington (DC); Mercer Gallery and Monroe Community College, Rochester (NY); Form/Space Ateller, Seattle (WA); Madrone Studios, San Francisco (CA); Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago (IL); Full Sail University (Full Sail Live Auditorium); Winter Park (FL).
Artist's statement
Rationale
This book comprises sketches and poetry inspired by my Indian heritage. I experiment with using collage as a medium to explore facets of my cultural identity, particularly through the use of textiles, bindis (decorative forehead jewellery worn in India), and line art depicting ethnic scenes with which I identify from the perspective of the Indian diaspora.
