At The Creative Writers’ Studio, we are committed to inspiring, encouraging and supporting writers at all stages. Whether you’re looking to unlock your creativity as an emerging, mid-career or established writer, storyteller and creator, or an educator or school seeking innovative ways to inspire students’ creative thinking and writing skills, we have you covered. From expressive writing and journaling workshops that help you explore your inner self to fun ekphrastic sessions using visual art to spark fresh ideas and develop skills, as well as mentorships, retreats, competitions, open mic nights and book publishing opportunities, our nurturing environment offers an inspiring space for like-minded individuals to connect, learn and grow.

One-off events focus on a variety of aspects of writing, community, sharing, storytelling and are facilitated by Purnima, sometimes led by special guests and teachers.

Our Spaces

Our online writing classes are accessible to writers globally while those living in Bangkok can also enjoy in-person events held at a variety of venues across the city. We use inspiring spaces to connect, create and celebrate all things story, ensuring writers further afield feel equally part of our supportive writing community. Here, writers are uncovering, writing and sharing their stories – because all of our stories deserve to be heard. You’ll find a creative space here to call home.

Creative Writing Workshops & Events

Our workshops make space for you to take risks, try something new and expand your confidence, creativity and writing community. Designed for adults of all levels of writing and art-making experience, they aim to support others on their own creative journeys of finding and honouring their voice, whilst learning writing techniques. In addition to one-off events, we host regular workshops and write-ins with opportunities to share your writing in a supportive environment and professionally, through performance and publication. Group sizes are small and workshops are tailored, fun and interactive.

At The Creative Writers’ Studio, we believe creative writing is a tool for self-discovery, connection, imagination and joy, offering a sanctuary to think freely, unleash our voices and rediscover the fun of writing for its own sake.

Meet your Facilitator

Purnima

The Creative Writers’ Studio is a community founded by Purnima Ruanglertbutr – Secondary School English Language & Literature teacher, author and poet. Drawing on over ten years of teaching, writing, performance and publishing expertise, Purnima combines her understanding of the creative process, her craft as a published writer and her insights as an editor and researcher to inspire participants to unlock their creativity and refine their craft. Writing and imagining stories since childhood, Purnima believes creativity, critical thinking and self-expression are vital in a fast-changing world. She champions storytelling with a human, authentic voice – shaped with soul, emotion and meaning – to connect us to ourselves, each other, our past and our future.

Purnima hopes to help others confront self-doubt and overcome the challenges of getting started by instilling motivation and perseverance. Her mission is to create space for voices of all ages in Thailand and beyond; her vision is to make creative writing accessible and integral to as many people as possible. Plus, creative writing is fun! If you’re looking to explore writing and develop the stories within you, join us and let us help make that happen.
