stop creating for the algorithm... writers and art stop creating for the algorithm... writers and artists: how have we come to think about the algorithm before thinking about the art?the hook before the creative flow,
the presentation before the words,
the performance before the purpose?what are we doing to protect our creative voice from becoming shaped by what the algorithm rewards?what happens to our creativity when we spend too much time trying to make our work please a machine?have you stopped paying attention to it?
or are you finding your own ways to resist?i don’t pay attention to any of it now, but i still see all these tips on my discovery feed about constantly changing algorithms, visibility, reach, engagement, what to post and when to post it.and honestly, it strikes a nerve.so i wrote this activist to-be-spoken word poem with a call to action.and i wonder if any writers, poets, authors, artist or creative can unite to make something unoptimised - to communicate what we want to say, to empower others to create without the algorithm, in our own raw forms, the way we want to say it...what would that look like in all our individual styles?take the framework. make it yours.break it. rewrite it. add to it. write about why you create, what you refuse to change, and what you want to protect in your creative voice.✨ start with:i want you to…
your art is…
so write…
make…
i don’t want…
don’t create…
i began because…
we will not…
let’s…
can we…
we will…or make it entirely your own.✒️ write your own CREATE UNOPTIMISED poem or art.🔊 share it. tag me @purnimacreations and use #unoptimised so we can find one another, and I'll also share what you create so we can boost each other.because i think that’s what a community is built around - humans, for the love of art and human connection!🏷️:

if you were Hope, what would you do or say? where if you were Hope, what would you do or say? where would you take me away?Answers travel in imagery, in waves of words, sounds and brush strokes. I whisk away to somewhere everything feels possible. Infinite. Grounded. My new poetry art collection, ‘Hope in Bloom’, is about the evolution of your becoming, into the strength to believe everything you envision can bloom when we give it space to.Can we always be growing, endlessly?
Wildly and uncontrollably ourselves?
Can we allow all of our parts to piece together a whole that we wholly love? When poetry and art merge, something shifts through image, colour, texture and form; rhythm, language and metaphor.A painting can give a poem another dimension. A poem can give a painting another voice. Together, they create windows that I hope reflect your feelings and make you feel empowered, uplifted, expansive. That symbiosis is at the heart of this art, layered with fragments of my poetry through decoupage. The visual and the written become one creative language.I was so grateful to share them for the first time at Bangkok Literature Festival 2026 with my own booth and to watch people read, be moved, relate, purchase and connect with the pieces in their own way. The most special moment was when one woman was literally moved to tears; she told me some of the words were exactly what she was going through at that moment. It made me feel the weight of words. And also it's weightlessness . We create. We let go.I wrote this poem a few days after, thinking back to that moment. Of her being so vulnerable. This is the power of poetry. As a writer, you never truly know where your words will land, what they will awaken, or what they will come to mean to someone else. And that is the beauty of putting them out into the world.🌿 Soon, I’ll be sharing the collection on my website, along with postcards, stickers, bookmarks and little pieces of 'Hope in Bloom' to take with you. What imagery or words come to mind when you think of Hope? Where does Hope take you?I may just weave them into the next phase of the series! ✨🧡🏷️

I’ve been loving working with a new medium lately: I’ve been loving working with a new medium lately: acrylic knife painting and decoupaging my poetry onto canvas. There’s something special about the buttery thickness of colour, texture and form. Each piece brings together poetry and paint, creating a different way for my words to be seen, felt and experienced. For this collection, my process has been a little different. I start by painting a scene, feeling or moment that I’m drawn to, and then I return to my hundreds of poems to find the words that feel like a match for the painting.Sometimes the painting comes first. Sometimes the poem feels like it was waiting for that particular canvas. The unifying thread across my art has always been my words. Whether through my black-and-white imagist concrete poems, photography or these new, more colourful and textured paintings, I want my work to leave you feeling empowered, uplifted and inspired.'Hope in Bloom' is the beginning of a growing collection, rooted in hope, growth & renewal. 🌿This is just a little glimpse of the works. A selection from the collection will be on display and available for purchase at the Bangkok Speculative Literature Festival:📅 Saturday, 22 August 2026
📍 Bangkok Kunsthalle, Bangkok

what if moss could heal the world’s wounds? I wro what if moss could heal the world’s wounds?I wrote this poem in just 10 minutes during an inspiring 'Noticing Nature' poetry workshop at @wordsworthgrasmere in the stunning Lake District 🌿Walking through Wordsworth's woodland, we explored the “textures of sound,” noticed the smallest details and listened to Wordsworth’s own poetry in the landscape that shaped it.I chose moss — soft, resilient, ancient — as my focus. Reciting it in Wordsworth’s garden-orchard felt magical. ✨Here’s the performance of my poem on-site at the Wordsworth Woodland 🎙️🍃What tiny detail in nature has caught your attention recently?🧡✒️ poem: velvet moss
